About Us
We are a community of enthusiasts with a wide range of vintage car rally interests and experience that share a passion for these iconic cars. Collectively, the 300 SL Classic organizing team has roughly 300,000 miles of rally seat time. We find joy in great friends, beautiful roads, and special cars. We enjoy a day of challenging roads that explore the less traveled hidden canyons, alpine passes, and wide open spaces of America with the comradery of like-minded friends.
At the same time, we are grateful for our opportunity to give back in the spirit of philanthropy. The 300SL Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed by members of the Gull Wing Group International car club, has partnered with Mercedes-Benz Circle of Excellence, the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, and the producers of a number of well-known vintage rallies to create the 300 SL Classic as a spectacular 4-day 1,000-mile rally. Each year a new route will cover roughly 1,000 miles of beautiful mountain passes, verdant river valleys, and high desert vistas throughout America.
For 2026 we are extending the rally by one day. There will be 4 days of driving and one ‘rest day’ which will include a tour of the famed Keller Collection and lunch at the winery.
Our History
The 300 SL Classic is one of the premier vintage car rally events in North America. The 300SL Foundation has partnered with the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center and the Gull Wing Group International, the world’s largest 300 SL club, to create this spectacular 4-day 1,000 mile event. The 300 SL Classic celebrates the engineering and design legacy of the 300 SL by featuring some of the finest examples of what is arguably the preeminent sports-race and grand-touring car of the 1950s. This event embraces the quality and style of Mercedes-Benz to celebrate the heritage of the world’s first super car – the 300 SL.
